Back in My Element
Yes. I do feel like I am slightly addicted to bananas.
I took a break after my mid-to-late day writing session to stop at my cousin’s and pick up my mom from work. When I got home (just now) I was starving so I had leftovers and then two clementines and a banana. I’m now back on top of the covers of my bed; I’m back in my writing element.
That’s the first time I think I ever used a semi-colon correctly. I’ve always wanted to, but I never thought I’d do it right. Hm! Look at me now.
Today, I have decided to explain to you (in depth) what it feels like when I’m in my writing element.
Around three, four and five pm, the sun shines through my linen curtains, casting shapes of moving branches onto my dresser. It looks heavenly, the light filling my room with natural beauty and warmth.
My room is exactly me, filled with all things that remind me of me. For starters, my bed is pink, my rug is pink, and my vintage robe and nightgowns hang decoratively outside my closet door - all pink. My furniture is old and white with chipped paint and missing knobs. A dresser, a taller dresser and two side tables that make me feel like a princess. One that wears Converse, and concert tees and sparkly hair clips.
On top of my main dresser, from left to right, sits a silver metallic piggy bank, books of all different colors and genres, pink, white, and hotter-pink flowers in my brand-new (yet old-looking) vase, two purses I've yet to put away, and two old jewelry boxes stacked one on top of the other.
My taller dresser holds a pink candle, a ceramic tray of perfume bottles with one stranded bottle beside it, a keychain from Paris, another from Paris, a gold sign that says London, and a box of unopened truffles from London.
One wall has a big colorful picture of Marilyn Monroe painted with graffiti, a pink velvet chair and my side table with an Eiffel Tower, lamps I found on someone’s sidewalk with shades that now have feather fringe at the bottom of them. It’s safe to say my lamps are enjoying their new home.
Anyways, I’m going to get under the covers and read my book.
Have a good night. Tomorrow’s Fri-yay.
With Danger & Grace,
— Girl Hazard
