Hot Girl Walks
A girl who’s freshly showered in a comfy pink set, teeth brushed, tretinoin on, spironolactone taken, vaselined lips, serumed lashes, slipping into bed and taking a sip of her now cooled-off tea is the perfect recipe for a great diary entry. So let’s serve it up.
For the past ten days, I have been dog-sitting my new bestie, Lyla. Lyla and I have a pretty good routine.
I get to her house around 8 AM, let her out and prepare her breakfast. While she’s eating, I take out my computer, journal, songwriting notebook, pen, and the mason jar of yogurt I made. I also place down the cup of hot black coffee I’ve been sipping on.
Every morning I’ve been starting with my journal. I write out my checklist for the day and scribble in the box next to the first thing I’ve already done. “Feed and let out Lyla.”
Then I read aloud my affirmation of the day: “I am enough, just as I am, in this moment.” Afterward, I write out (in detail) a current goal of mine. The goal that I wrote for myself today is to be the musical performer of the 2027 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
I am creating an album. A work of art, if you will.
I can see myself hot and toned, with a big blowout and a super sparkly Victoria’s Secret outfit on, singing my songs with passion and vibrance as beautiful, confident girls strut their stuff beside me. I’m manifesting it!
I can barely get to the gratitude section before Lyla is making faces at me like, “Can we go on our hot girl walk now?” So, I close my journal knowing I’ll come back to it later.
Lyla and I love our walks, especially because this weather has been perfect. Red leaves, lots of sun, and air just crisp enough for your lightest jacket.
While walking, I’ll hum a tune or work on a riff. Sometimes I whip out my phone to record a voice memo so I don’t forget. Yes, Lyla is a part of my creative process.
When we get back home, I sit at the counter and open up my songwriting notebook and computer.
It’s so fun when I find things I’m passionate about because there are so many new questions and details I get to pick my brain about. Like what BPMs and instruments do I want to include? What would I name my album? Outfits. There are going to be outfits.
I also got to circle back to my passion for owning a clothing brand. That’s a whole realm of questions I used to exist heavily in until manufacturing complications last year.
I’m planning my first collaboration and brand event, and I am getting to do a lot of what I loved back then. Like writing professional emails to manufacturers and making sure I ask all the right questions. Designing the clothes, finding sustainable materials, making sure everything looks flattering.
Yeah, feels so good to be back, Girl Hazard.
