Good Morning! And Happy Thursday.
Thursday has actually always been my favorite day of the week. It's just close enough to the weekend where you can start spritzing (or partying) with zero guilt. In fact, If you make it to Thursday, your pretty much in the clear to start your weekend.
In college, Thursdays were the night to go out. Then Friday, I could either go out or stay in, usually completely fine with staying in on the couch with my roomate. Depends on the weather, and depends on who's asking. Saturday has two options. Day party that leads into a night party, or go for a walk that leads into a spritz, hopefully a bathing suit, and then dancing a few hours later.
I love dancing.
I'll set the scene. It's a Saturday morning around noon. Your in the car with your friend, just heading back from getting an iced matcha. It's sunny and warm, the windows are down, music blaring and the day is young. You reach to turn down the music in the passenger seat to express an idea that just came to mind. "You know what I think we should do...?" You are in the perfect position because you love this friend and you know that they will match your energy on what you're about the say.
She drops you off at home to get ready. You both agree to look cute- casual, but not at all- and also to be on the faster side of things. A sundress, a day or two old blowout, natural makeup yet bronzed and blushed, purse, perfume, and we're ready to go.
You walk into the function with your friend. You progress in slowly, sliding past people- more people then you expected. You're outside, maybe by a pool or the water. Walking further and further into the function, you and your friend look at each other and nod without saying anything. It's going to be a good day.
I'll leave the rest of the day up to your own imagination, but just know there's good music and definitely dancing.
This Saturday around noon I won't be bopping around at a pool, I'll be on stage. I'll be performing "The Cure" by Olivia Rodrigo for my recital.
I haven't had a recital in nine years. I grew up dancing and did some musical theatre, some recreational plays and a singing camp for a few summers. I've performed a solo on stage, but maybe when I was nine. I haven't sung much in recent years except for that one karaoke bar in Nashville. I'm excited for my recital. Especially because if this continues to be a dream of mine, one day I'll be singing on stage at my own concerts and this recital, with only my family watching, will probably be a moment I think about when looking out into the crowd.
Have a great Thursday, and happy start of the weekend.
With Danger & Grace,
Girl Hazard
