I may have slyly mentioned last week that I acquired a boyfriend. Me? yeah wifed up.
Should I give him an alias? No that's too weird. I'll just call him boyf.
So yeah. He calls me his girlfriend, I call him my boyfriend... it's kind of a thing.
On the topic of new boyfriend, let's take it back to the first time I ever dated.
It was the summer before fifth grade.
I was hanging out at the yacht club with my cousins who were members. My mom started talking to another mom that came over and started talking to me. She explained to me that her son (he gets an alias, we'll call him Shane) was transferring to my elementary school that year.
She showed me a pic of him. Blonde, tall, and a diamond earring in one ear. He was hot AF and he was GOING to be my boyfriend.
On a sticky note, she wrote his instagram. I remember exactly how the sticky note looked. Thickish bleeding black sharpie ink and a slash through one of the letters because she messed up his username.
I kept the sticky note in a tiny five below locker along with a dandelion I had picked that day.
By the end of the summer, the dandelion had rotted and I couldn't wait any longer for fifth grade to begin. I remember what I wore on the first day. Looking back, It was definitely a baddie outfit for a fifth grader. Shane was coming to school and I was the first to meet his mom and get his Instagram. I had to stand my ground to all the other girls who weren't informed that this new kid was entering the chat.
As I predicted, everyone thought he was hot. He ended up being my boyfriend though. Maybe twice. We definitely broke up once. I know I did it once.
I walked down the street in my neighborhood to pick up my best friend Aria. We walked two houses back towards mine when she blurts out "I'm dating Shane."
I go "What?! I'm dating Shane."
It was not my best friends fault, it was Shane's. He straight up played us and I literally hated Shane for that.
To end it, I sent him a DM on Instagram that said "breaking up with u" and he sent back a selfie of him holding his forehead, looking stressed, and two back to back "Why?"s.
I don't remember why we broke up the second time, or why we even got back together LOL. You learn something from every relationship, and from mine and Shane's, I learned that "bad boys" may be cute, but that's how they get you (and your best friend).
The lesson here: Never trust a boy with a diamond earring.
Lesson = learned.
