Double Digits!

Happy blog post 10 and The 4th of July Eve Eve.

What do we need to discuss on this sweltering summer day?

Let's start with this Tuesday.

Every Tuesday I have a 30 minute singing lesson. This is something I started doing in February. I wanted to pick up singing so I called my local studio and booked some lessons. I loved it... I knew I would.

Around that time, I started hanging out with my now Boyfriend. I told him that I was taking singing lessons, just in case I need to join a band or something. I'm sure he thought I was joking, but I was dead serious.

In the last couple of months I've mentioned to my parents that this year, I want to join a band. They've heard loads of different things from me. One day I want to start a fashion brand, the next day I'm getting into chemistry. "I'm gonna just audition for a bunch of movies this summer" as well as "I'm gonna have my own TV show, based off my life and my blog The Diary of a Girl Hazard

I've been subtly doubted many times in my life where its like, "Hey... keep that negativity to yourself!" But there are things you have to say out loud for the first time, and prepare yourself to be doubted. It's almost inevitable to be doubted if you have something pretty spectacular to say.

Anyway, the Saturday before this Tuesday I had my singing recital. It went well. Wouldn't say it was perfection, but my singing career is a WIP.

When I went into my lesson this week I didn't really want to talk about my performance. I just wanted to continue on and sing a different song. I had been singing "The Cure" by Olivia Rodrigo for weeks, and she's since released the rest of her album. I was very eager to get in there with some new Olivia, so I sent my instructor a few songs ahead of time.

When I got to class, my instructor Pam touched on the recital, saying how proud she was of all her students. She then asked me, "So what's next for you?" Weirdly enough, that question made me slightly uncomfortable. I don't know why.

Although that was a good question, I casually changed the subject and started talking about something else. Pam tapped a few keys on her piano and pondered. She looked back at me and questioned, "Would you be interested in performing for real, like at a venue?" Immediately I replied, "Yes, I would." Pam looked away again, tapping some keys on her piano while she thought.

"Would you want to join a cover band?"

This was lowkey something I've been dreaming of being asked.

I hadn't had such a.. hmmm.. how do I say this? Like where your dream is actually coming true type thing, happen in awhile. I would like to add that this is most likely because of the vision board I created this month. I think it's working.

"Yes, I would! ...Wait what exactly is a cover band? Is it a band that sings covers of songs?"

"Yes" she said, encouragingly.

"Then yes! That's actually exactly what I want to do."

Then, we continued on the lesson like normal.

That's all I really have for right now, but that is a life update. And how freaking cool would it be if I joined a band.

With Danger & Grace,

Girl Hazard
